A video of “Why Rivers Run”

Posted by John Kirnan on February 2nd, 2015

"Why Rivers Run" is from the "Green to Gold" album. This is the first video of one of my songs. As you can imagine, it was a wonderful experience to find out what someone had created with my music.

I think Marian Buchanan did such a great job of expressing this song visually. Thanks, Marian.

And thanks to all of the photographers who allowed us to use their beautiful photographs for free. You can check out their work at pixabay.com.

Check out Marian's work at heartwoodwebdesign.com and zoeticendeavours.com.

And you can check out the lyrics to "Why Rivers Run" below.

Why Rivers Run

Somewhere within a wood,
There runs a river
That shines in the setting sun
And dances for her eyes.

Year after year goes by,
Spring turns to Autumn,
Leaves fall away like dreams
Touched by winds of time.

Some call the river hope.
Some call it sorrow.
Some say she waits for truth
And knows why rivers run.

Somewhere within us all,
Sunrise is burning.
Some call that fire God.
Call it what you will,
River shines in the sun.

I always loved this song. I have it on the memory card of my little portable radio. Whenever I spend time alone at the cabin, I sit by the river in the evening and listen to it.

Nice work with the video. It adds another dimension to the piece.

      Thanks, Louis.

Now, the image of you sitting by the river listening to my song will always be one of the things I see when I hear it.

  2. Mik says:

Totally love your voice John. Thank you.
